The Story of The Dalkey School Project

The Story of The Dalkey School Project

September 16, 2019

In the early 1970s, two families in Dalkey in south Dublin came together and with considerable vision, courage and energy, established Ireland's first multidenominational school, the Dalkey School Project.

Now in 2019, as the Educate Together movement expands into post primary education and has become the ethos of choice for so many parents in Ireland, this radio documentary I made with the help of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland's Sound and Vision fund, tells the story of its origins.

I'm working with Educate Together on a video story, and this documentary is a very useful archive of this wonderful story.

Ronan Cavanagh of Cavanagh Communications discusses his PR business

Ronan Cavanagh of Cavanagh Communications discusses his PR business

January 15, 2019

As part of my membership of the Forty Foot chapter of BNI (Business Network International) in Dun Laoghaire, I interviewed fellow member and PR professional Ronan Cavanagh.

Ronan told the group about his business and his philosophy on life.

I recorded the interview to

(a) help Ronan communicate his story

(b) show the group how easy it is to make a pop up podcast by using my Zoom H4n digital recorder on a short stand, with both Ronan and I facing the group and facing the mic at the same time - they were impressed!

(c) to show you the listener that audio recordings are a super way to tell a great story!

We make podcasts, and we advise on podcast-making. Once a radio reporter, always a radio reporter!...

IN MEMORY OF MARY MULVIHILL “The Man Who Split the Atom”

IN MEMORY OF MARY MULVIHILL “The Man Who Split the Atom”

October 8, 2015

In 2009, my late colleague Mary Mulvihill asked me to record a new science trail or "Science Safari" on the grounds of Trinity College in Dublin. Mary, a distinguished scientist, TCD graduate and science communicator, was commissioned to produce an audio trail bringing the scientific highlights of Trinity College to life.

In this recording, Mary talks about "The Man who Split the Atom".
Mary died after a short illness in June of this year. Lots of us still miss her wonderful intelligence, great communications skills and her friendship. RIP.
This evening, October 8th 2015, friends and colleagues remember Mary in the Department of Genetics  on the grounds of Trinity College. I've put up this audio on my podcast channel  in her memory. Aileen O'Meara, Producer.
